Develop extraordinary violinists who share beautiful music with joy

Your child has something beautiful to share through music. With students ranging from 3-18 years old, there's no better time to begin.

Private Lessons

Private lessons times range from 15-30 minutes. This option offers the most personalized attention and is the only option for advanced students.

Group Lessons for Beginners

When available, group lessons offer a lower cost option for beginning students. Two children around the same age share a 30-minute lesson.

Parent/Child Classes

For children ages 3-6, a parent is welcome to study violin alongside their child. These classes take place in groups of 2-3 children, in 20 minute lessons.

Tina, mother of twin boys

"It is my pleasure to highly recommend Jessica Oberlin as an extremely talented and truly gifted instructor of violin for young children. My twin boys took lessons with her for two years (8-9 years old) and their musical skills grew rapidly and they blossomed into young musicians participating in school and local youth orchestra.

Jessica has a patient and gentle way with children and is able to connect with them at a personal level. The children looked forward to every lesson and enjoyed practicing their pieces. As a professional musician and a trained educator of music Jessica brought a mixture of rigor, challenge, joy, and fun to the lessons that really allowed the children to flourish under her direction."

Meet Your Teacher

My name is Jessica Gottesman Oberlin. My music journey started at age three, when I watched some older friends taking a violin lesson. I thought they were amazing, and I was hooked. Six months later, I started lessons at the Betty Haag Academy of Music, where I went on to perform for presidents and dignitaries, on national television, and in major concert halls around the world.

I earned a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Northwestern University and have been teaching and performing as a soloist and chamber musician for many years. Now based in Northern Virginia with my husband and two small children, my favorite part of teaching is watching students transform into true artists as they develop musical expression built on a foundation of excellent violin technique, empowering them to share beautiful music with joy.
